Life was so ridiculously fun. She didn't worry about much. Every day got better and better, more and more funny. She had asked to know the secrets of love, only to be given them all. That's because it wasn't a secret, it was all around them, in them, it was them. Love followed no rules, no ideals, no versions or stories that any one individual could create. Love just is.
The stars were getting ridiculous now. They reminded her of the contract she signed long ago, the contract to love, the contract to live happily until death, and the contract to not do it alone in order for future generations to prosper and flourish when she retired. She was excited about going home, yes that means dieing, but she would go out with a bang. A huge celebration of life and living and especially love, and then boom. She'd retire to their bed and pass on. Back to the stars, back to before matter was invented.
Before she could do any of that though, she had to return to the sea. She had to say her farewells, had to give them back their stolen song. She had to let them know that the princess was alright. That despite her no longer being a body, she was always watching over them, with all the fierceness, protection, and gentleness of a dragon. Little horses of the sea were little bitty guardians, by being so small and large in number, nothing could harm their waters. Camouflage was their best defense. They could look like anything to hide from the eyes of humans.
She wasn't the only one who wanted to return to the sea. The prince did as well. She had called him, had been him, was now him. The left half of her body was him. With his hand movements went hers. Every movement they made was done to balance the other out. They were getting closer to being the same person, to loving each other completely.
They both knew when everything would happen. The details were not as important as the overall picture. Time didn't work as they had thought, instead one action would be sent into the universe, and then a response would come. Their universe was getting increasingly small, their bubble was running out of air. They were breathing each others air as the orb got smaller. They were each others air. Unlimited finite love, they were becoming one. The sea missed them, and they would go back for a long swim soon.
